    The Leuenberg Agreement had brought Lutheran and Reformed Churches into closer fellowship in Europe and around the world. The Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification was signed by the Vatican and the Lutheran World Federation, stating that the mutual condemnations of the Reformation period are no longer church-dividing.   In the case of this European development, however, the Leuenberg Agreement is more than a statement of theological consensus--though it is also that. It is an agreement outlining changed relationships between churches on the basis of a theological consensus on justification by faith.

    History: Since the Leuenberg Agreement was adopted in , Reformed and Lutheran churches in Europe have shared full communion. This agreement includes Lutheran, Reformed, United, Methodist, Hussite Church, Waldensian Church, the Church of the Czech Brethren, and 5 South American church groups which had been founded by German immigrants..
